VISIONS
OF SUCCESS
Rethinkers
use vision to discover essence of extraordinary success.
On
the evening of October 4, 2000 twelve Rethinkers gathered to attend
RETHINK's first Creativity in Life and Work Forum. They represented
diverse businesses and professions. By the conclusion of the Forum,
their diversity contributed significantly to creating extraordinary
visions of life-work success.
A
welcome reception and dinner, and an emotion-stirring presentation
by writer, speaker, and innovative marketing expert Tom Asacker
launched the Forum. Rethinker Len Marchese facilitated the next
two days of discovery and creativity.
Sharing
a goal of being more creative to meet challenges and succeed in
life and work, the Rethinkers painted, colored, cut and pasted,
and configured their vision of success. As each Rethinker presented
their vision, the essence of extraordinary success emerged as --
significance, freedom, responsibility, family, universality, simplicity,
harmony, connecting, balance, creativity, empathy, and spirituality.
IDEAS
FOR YOU, ME, AND US
Creative
enlightening dazzled many times throughout the course of the Forum.
Idea baskets filled. Several shared life-work challenges surfaced,
from which self-talk was selected as the most trying threat
to success. Rethinkers reviewed an electronic space called rethinktank.com.
Diversity
led to ideas, that led to innovation, that led to freeing camaraderie
and clearing pathways of barriers to success in life and work.
Time
to let things "gel" produced some of the funniest and scariest faces
on pumpkins, and the happiest faces on Rethinkers. The seeds were
good too!
HURDLES
AND HIGH-JUMPS
Characterizing
a vision is easier than living it. Things just seem to get in the
way every day. The group was not at a loss for identifying obstacles,
such as inertia, stress, time, money, self, chaos, prejudice, confusion,
blaming, conformity, resistance, health, agendas, rules, boundaries,
competition and commitments.
Energized
by their vision, the Rethinkers surmounted obstacles blocking their
success. As they acknowledged hurdles to fulfilling their vision,
they also claimed victory over those they already cleared. A sense
of renewed freedom filled the meeting space with joy and vitality.
FROM
LOVE & THUNDER… CO-EVOLVE NEW ROOTS!
To
meet the challenge of defeating self-talk the Rethinkers
applied creative thinking to find new combinations and relationships
for life-work harmony. The randomly selected words love and
thunder were characterized. From the characterization evolved
new combinations leading to co-evolve new roots. And a new
relationship formed -- interacting with another to free yourself
to succeed.
DEWITT
JONES IGNITES EVERYDAY CREATIVITY
The
extraordinary photos and stirring words of Dewitt Jones, in the
video Everyday Creativity, inspired reflection and creativity as
the Rethinkers embarked on a photographic journey. If a picture
is worth a thousand words, then what awaited discovery at Basin
Harbor Club held chapters of tradition and enlightenment.
Rethinkers
collaborated, contorted, and cheered as they scurried to capture
their vision-photo. A spinning gazebo, garden pathways, rainbow
chairs, sky bound canoes, emerging pleasant outlooks, resting rowboats,
a "handy" clean slate, and a stairway to ________ were just some
of the creative representations.
